#1.3.2

To be read after #1.3.1
The characters in the story are purely fictitious. Any resemblance with the characters in this story to the living or the dead is purely coincidental. The views expressed are personal. Written by Vinayak Iyer, Mumbai, India. October 2014.

"We found a vacated house. To be exact, the house in which you were now residing. It was a simple trick", continued Samuel, "we bought the house, made it haunted and sold it to a party. Then obviously nobody would want to live there. They sell it with minimum profit but it was me who got the maximum profit."

John was taken aback. He didn't expect this. All the more his temperature was rising. Samuel started again with a long pause but was stopped by John. "There's no need for explaining more. Now where's that Portuguese guy. Your plan is still working or not?" John mocked knowing he played spoilsport in the so-called game.

"Whom are you selling it to?", asked Samuel out of the blue.
"Well, I find it not necessary to tell a friend who'd betray me, answered John, "but one thing still remains in my mind. I don't recall the realtor telling that the owner's name was Samuel. It was Mr. Regalle. That doesn't patch up and wrap up the whole drama. Is there another person in this Samuel?

Just then the door of the adjacent room creaked open. There appeared a familiar figure for John. He didn't seem to introduce himself but entered with a blast of words.
"Why mate, why?"
"I told you. He's my buddy. There's no going. We've entangled enough and picked the wrong guy", said Samuel.

"Says who? You never understand. He'll spread it for sure." The man was thundering. John knew the man and it was anybody's guess. "We have to clear him", muttered Alejandro.

"You know you can't do that", replied Samuel.
"At times, I can.
But since he's after all your friend I can give him two choices. Here John, that's what your name is, isn't it? I can either give you a reasonable offer of joining us or the assurance that you're not going to see another moment once you make the wrong decision."

John was surprised but Samuel was anxious. John's nerves were getting the better of him. Alejandro took out a gun. "No time wasted. No loss gained", he said. Aljandro darted forward. John quickly moved backwards. His brain filled with problems and questions but he knew it wasn't the perfect time to utter a word.

Within a second, Alejandro lunged at John and beat him up with the gun. Blood surrounded his mouth. The very next moment he heard a bullet go right through him. He was losing senses. Struggling to get up he managed to catch Alejandro's pocket. All he saw was an ID card falling out with the name Alejandro Regalle!
